Equipment Operator

Job DetailsJob Location: Myrtle Beach, SC 29577Position Type: Full TimeResponsible for operating a mini excavator to install underground electrical services for new residential homes. Duties include: Trenching for service lines  Reading site plans and utility layouts Safely working around existing utilities Backfilling and grading trenches, and assisting crews with conduit placement and service installation. Ensures equipment is operated safely, job sites remain clean and organized, and work is completed according to company standards, schedules, and local codes. Qualifications Required Education: - High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional vocational training or certification in heavy equipment operation is preferred. Required Experience: - Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, or loaders in a construction or industrial setting. - Proven track record of safely and efficiently operating equipment in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. - Experience in performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Required Skills and Abilities: - Strong understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures, including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical issues. - Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness to maneuver equipment in tight spaces and challenging environments. - Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical manuals to execute tasks accurately. - Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders on project requirements and progress. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety and attention to detail. - Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and operate equipment for extended periods in various weather conditions. - Valid driver's license and, if applicable, a commercial driver's license (CDL) is required.
