About the Role:

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) at Stallings Court Nursing & Rehabilitation plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare team by safely administering medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards. This position ensures that each resident receives the correct medication at the prescribed times, contributing directly to their health, comfort, and overall well-being. The CMA collaborates closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor residents for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, promptly reporting concerns to ensure timely interventions. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate medication records and adhering to strict confidentiality and safety guidelines. Ultimately, the CMA helps to enhance the quality of care provided within the facility, fostering a safe and supportive environment for all residents.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification as required by state regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of medication administration principles and safety standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a long-term care or rehabilitation facility.
  • Additional certifications related to healthcare or medication administration.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with elderly or disabled populations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer prescribed medications to residents accurately and timely, following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions and report any concerns to nursing staff immediately.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medication records, including documentation of administration and any observed changes in resident condition.
  • Assist nursing staff with routine care tasks as needed, supporting overall resident health and comfort.
  • Ensure compliance with all facility policies, state regulations, and safety protocols related to medication handling and administration.
  • Communicate effectively with residents to explain medication procedures and provide reassurance.
  • Participate in ongoing training and competency evaluations to maintain certification and stay current with best practices.
