Position Category: Safety Sensitive

Position Summary: The Material Handler is to help the warehouse/shop and yard for our operational teams and to conduct general maintenance and materials for the office facilities.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify the quantity and quality of items received. Order utility construction site materials and supplies when requested.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and protocols.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding material shortages or issues.
  • Order utility construction site materials and supplies when requested.

 Qualifications required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 Years’ experience in material, warehouse, and/or inventory management.
  • 1-2 Years’ experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Class A CDL Driver License preferred (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Industry experience in construction and/or telecommunications preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point), with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Valid Driver License with a personal history of safe driving record and practices.

Working Conditions/Environment: This position operates in shop and warehouse environment.

This position routinely operates in a variety of physical positions, such as sitting, bending, reaching, standing, walking, driving (automatic and standard), squatting, and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

This position requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer, and fall weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.  May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated. When working onsite, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and safety vest.
