Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Food and Beverage Manager and the Concession Shift Lead, the Concession Grill Cook is responsible for all day-to-day frontline food preparation and cooking at the Centennial Grill. This includes grilling, frying, cleaning & maintaining cooking equipment, sanitation, food & refrigeration temperature checks, and dish duty.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Cook food using the recipes provided by the Food & Beverage Manager.
  2. Follow sanitary practices for food handling, cooking, and general cleaning of the facility.
  3. Respond to customer needs in a timely fashion.
  4. Inspect, inventory, and initiate requests for purchases and repairs of equipment and supplies to the Concession Shift Lead.
  5. Maintain a safe, clean, and friendly environment for coworkers and customers.
  6. Respond appropriately to emergency procedures.
  7. Demonstrate and support District customer service standards.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate kitchen machinery and tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in food operations or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Illinois Food Handler's Certification within one (1) month of hire.

Special Considerations:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedules.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 30 lbs on a daily Lifting assistance is required when lifting > 30 lbs.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to heat from appliances, smoke, steam, cleaning chemicals, food, and odors.
  • Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, standing, and climbing.
  • Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.
