Purpose:

Assists the service manager in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service department’s operation within the dealership. Answers customer inquiries about service work and generates repair quotes. Prepares and manages work orders to ensure technicians have work in front of them.

Responsibilities:

  • Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
  • Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman and maintains control until they are closed and invoiced.
  • Maintains repair order system for completeness, accuracy, and timely billing.
  • Maintains service department filings and records and service library with current information (for example, files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service Manager.
  • Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer repair orders.
  • Maintains accessories and supplies and prepares replacement orders.
  • May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission, and follow-up.
  • Review all pertinent customer comments or suggestions with the location Service Manager.
  • Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.

 

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge: 

  • 1 year of experience in Service Department operations preferred.
  • Experience with basic accounting practices.
  • Experience with basic computer functions.
  • Experience working cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Experience communicating effectively.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Driving record that meets Employer’s insurance company requirements.
