<h2><b>Overview</b></h2><div><div><div><p>The Biomed Equipment Technician (BMETIII) plans, organizes, and provides daily supervision and support to all assigned staff at lower levels in the Biomed department. Completes work orders, PMās, parts purchase requests, and equipment history records. Incumbent will assists with staff training, in-services, policy and procedures, regulatory compliance, and software data management. Establish and maintain the support of the Biomed Program. The employee will perform preventive maintenance, safety test, incoming inspection, installation, troubleshooting, repair, calibration to all patient care equipment. The employee will also serve as an advisor to an appropriate hospital committee, and demonstrate cost-effective decision-making skills with leadership abilities.</p></div></div></div>Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair medical and non-medical equipment using test equipment in the Biomed Department.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical equipment and has a basic understanding of its use in the medical environment.
Demonstrates the ability to contain cost for service and repair of medical equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to use it effectively in a clinical setting.
Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to assist with staff training in the case of user errors.
Demonstrates knowledge of codes and standards, guidelines, and test procedures that are used to verify performance.
Ensures that all medical equipment is included in the inventory with proper documentation and data integrity.
Understands the importance of documenting the maintenance history of medical equipment.
Demonstrates a cooperative attitude.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
Completes documentation for schedules and unscheduled work performed.
Understands the concept of Preventive Maintenance.
Provides technical and clinical support.
Maintains a good relationship with co-workers in Plant services and Biomed.
Demonstrates knowledge of QA processes, is able to identify QA issues, provides and implements corrective action plan.
Performs related duties as directed.
Promptly orders spare parts and when required ensure parts are returned to vendor (i.
e.
, exchange parts, cores, etc.
Displays willingness to assist co-workers with assigned tasks.
Uses designated locations to store spare parts, incoming and outgoing parts, and equipment.
Display a willingness to accept new tasks.
Requires little supervision and is a self- starter performing routine tasks without being directed to do.
Maintains a clean work area.
Uses ātagsā to identify equipment/parts status.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Associateās Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or military medical repair specialist school or equivalent training and experience preferred. Ā
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: NA Ā
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in Biomed preferred. Concepts and techniques in solving complex technical problems as would be acquired by 5 years of industry experience with 3 years of hospital experience, preferred. Working familiarity with JCAHO accreditation standards and NFPA 99 is preferred. Ā Ā
