Role Summary
CAD Designers process orders for 2D & 3D content from Product Designers. Each CAD Designer is the technical expert in engineering and production standards for their assigned area. They create and update 3D models and 2D prints, incorporate model year changes, and deliver release‑ready content to support manufacturing, vendors, and service.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create/modify models and drawings from Build Orders, sketches, redlines, and mark‑ups.
  • Implement changes and propagate to affected items.
  • Adhere to drafting standards; propose improvements to templates and methods.
  • Consult with Engineers for clarifications, coordinate with Lead Designers on scope and sequencing.
  • Interface with the Offshore Team by preparing clear modeling packages and reviewing returns.

Primary Deliverables

  • 3D part/assembly models and fully‑detailed 2D prints that meet standards.
  • Updated libraries, family tables, and attributes per PLM rules.

Success Metrics

  • Throughput vs. Build Order plan
  • CAD quality score (standards, dimensions, notes, metadata)
  • Limited problem reports due to CAD errors

Qualifications

  • 5+ Years in 3D modeling and 2D drafting, with strong understanding of production standards. 
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems for EBOM updates and release workflows. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret engineering intent and apply standards consistently. 
  • Effective communicator who can work with Lead Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, and Offshore teams.
