Sonic Summary

info
  • We are looking for a Lead Software Algorithm Engineer with extensive expertise in signal processing and subsurface imaging algorithms.
  • This role requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in signal processing, advanced DSP, or related sensing technologies.
  • The position involves leading the development of advanced GPR signal processing algorithms and contributing to broader software engineering efforts.
  • Candidates should possess strong system-level C++/C skills and have experience with multi-sensor fusion or machine learning-based radar analysis.
  • The job is located in Nashua, New Hampshire, and offers a full-time employment opportunity with a competitive salary.

We are seeking an experienced and highly technical Software Algorithm Engineer with deep expertise in signal processing, and subsurface imaging algorithms. In this lead role, you will drive the research, design, and deployment of advanced algorithms for radar-based sensing, leading development from early concept through production implementation.

Beyond algorithm-focused work, you will play a key role in the broader software engineering team - helping architect systems, mentor other engineers, and contribute to core software infrastructure when algorithm demands are lower.

This is a hands‑on technical role with a high impact on product direction and sensing performance.

Job Responsibilities:

Algorithm R&D and Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of advanced GPR signal processing algorithms, including clutter suppression, deconvolution, migration, background removal, and multi-channel fusion.
  • Architect next‑generation subsurface imaging and reconstruction pipelines with an emphasis on accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency.
  • Drive the development of machine learning models for target detection, material classification, anomaly identification, and automated interpretation of radar signatures.
  • Establish algorithm performance benchmarks, evaluation frameworks, and field‑testing methodologies.
  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of algorithm development, from conceptual modeling to production deployment and optimization.
  • Provide technical mentorship to algorithm and software engineers; review designs and guide best practices in signal processing and modeling.

Broader Software Engineering Contributions

When not focused on algorithm-specific tasks, you will:

  • Collaborate with the software team to build and improve:
    • Data pipelines, internal tools, and service layers supporting radar processing.
    • Visualization interfaces, debugging tools, and operator-facing applications.
    • Real‑time processing systems embedded devices.
  • Contribute to system-level software architecture, design reviews, and code quality improvements.
  • Participate in cross-functional engineering efforts involving hardware, SQA, and operations teams.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience (or equivalent expertise) in signal processing, advanced DSP, or related sensing technologies.
  • Numerical modeling and scientific computing.
  • Strong system level C++/C skills.
  • Cross-platform development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design complex algorithms and lead technical initiatives.
  • Proven success mentoring engineers and guiding cross-functional technical decisions.
  • Experience with the following is highly desirable:
    • Multi-sensor fusion or machine-learning‑based radar analysis.
    • Experience with GPUs.
    • Expertise in FDTD, FEM, or other physics-based EM solvers.
    • Background embedded system integration.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach.
