Job Summary

The Asbestos Project Manager serves as the MNPS AHERA Designated person, maintains asbestos management plans for all facilities, and maintains asbestos records and documentation. This role will oversee all abatement work within the district and review all renovation, and demolition plans for ACM impact. The Manager will also coordinate with other teams within MNPS to ensure smooth operations and will perform surveillance and reinspections on a regular basis. 

What you will do

  • Serve as MNPS AHERA Designated Person.
  • Maintain asbestos management plans for all facilities. Maintain permanent asbestos records and documentation.
  • Oversee abatement work and ensure compliance with EPA AHERA regulations.
  • Review renovation and demolition plans for ACM impact. Review all construction plans for ACM disturbance.
  • Conduct 6-month surveillance and 3-year reinspections. Identify and confirm ACM locations.
  • Ensure contractors and consultants are properly accredited. Provide asbestos awareness training.
  • Coordinate asbestos abatement projects. Manage abatement bidding and contractor selection.
  • Develop abatement scopes and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with Environmental, Capital Projects, Roofing, HVAC, and Plumbing teams.

Additional Requirements

  • May be assigned to participate in an on-call rotation to respond to urgent or emergency operational needs outside of normal business hours.
  • Position is designated as essential personnel and may be required to report to work or remain available during emergencies, severe weather events, facility incidents, or district-declared closures to support continuity of operations.


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in Asbestos management or work Required


Skills and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of EPA AHERA regulations.
  • Understanding of: asbestos-containing materials (ACM), inspection, surveillance, and reinspection requirements, and abatement methods and clearance procedures.
  • Familiarity with: LBP coordination on construction projects, record retention, and public notification requirements.
  • Knowledge of procurement and bidding requirements for abatement.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to operate independently with high accountability.
