The Surgical Clinic (TSC) is a group of private practice surgeons representing many specialties of surgical practice to develop patient-focused, conveniently located places to give patients access to needed surgical procedures close to home. Since its founding in 1997, The Surgical Clinic has continued to attract talented surgeons, becoming one of Middle Tennessee’s most respected practices. Â

TSC specializes in bariatric surgery, breast surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, surgical oncology surgery, vascular & endovascular surgery, and veins. In addition, TSC has established several Vascular Procedure Centers, TSC prosthetics, and accredited ultrasound labs. Â

POSITION SUMMARYÂ
The Medical Assistant Float provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to a variety of surgical specialties including general surgery, vascular & endovascular surgery, plastic surgery, vein care, podiatry, and surgical oncology. This role requires flexibility to travel between multiple clinic locations based on staffing needs. The MA Float ensures efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and supports providers in delivering excellent patient care across diverse clinical environments.Â

ESSENTIALÂ FUNCTIONS:Â
Prepares exam rooms and patients for visits, procedures, and minor surgeries across multiple specialties. Â
Records patient vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Â
Provides clinical support during in-office procedures, including wound care, suture/staple removal, dressing changes, injections, and other patient care activities as directed by the provider.Â
Coordinates patient care including scheduling follow-up appointments, diagnostic tests, and referrals. Â
Provides patient education and instructions as directed by the provider, tailored to each specialty’s needs. Â
Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures proper sterilization and cleanliness of equipment and exam rooms. Â
Performs administrative duties such as answering phones, managing messages, and processing paperwork related to patient care. Â
Travels to various clinic locations to provide coverage as assigned, sometimes on short notice. Â
Adapts quickly to different workflows and provider preferences across specialties, while consistently utilizing the organization’s standardized electronic medical record (EMR) system.Â
Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards. Â
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to support coordinated and efficient patient care. Â
Assists in onboarding and training new staff when needed. Â
Performs other duties as assigned.Â

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSÂ
High school diploma or GED required. Â
Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within three months of hire.Â
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program and/or certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) is preferred.  Â
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting; multi-specialty experience preferred. Â
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Â
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments. Â
Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills.Â

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS:Â
Ability to stand for extended periods of time during treatments.Â
Manual dexterity to perform precise skin care procedures and operate equipment.Â
Visual acuity to evaluate skin conditions and monitor patient response.Â
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Â
