Job Summary

Collaborates with the Director of Mathematics and Lead Numeracy Coaches to coordinate projects that support district-wide implementation of pedagogical practices aligned with the TN Mathematics standards, MNPS Instructional Framework, and the MNPS Mathematics Curriculum Framework. By fostering supportive and productive relationships with and among teachers, numeracy coaches, administrators, and the larger MNPS community, the Coordinator of Mathematics will help build the capacity of stakeholder's instructional knowledge in mathematics through professional development, curriculum implementation, and research-based coaching practices. 

What you will do

  • Professional Learning Leadership: Coordinates professional learning for teachers and math leads including the development and/or facilitation of district-based and school-based professional development workshops focused on math content and research-informed pedagogical practices to support core instruction. Co-plans and facilitates professional learning for district leaders, school administrators, school-based numeracy coaches, and school leadership teams.
  • Curricular Implementation: Coordinates and supports the implementation of mathematics curricular materials for grades K – 12, including those for accelerated and extended learning opportunities. Coordinates with vendors, schools, providers of extended learning opportunities, and the textbook warehouse.
  • Instructional Guidance: Coordinates the development and implementation of the mathematics scope and sequence guidance documents for grades K – 12, including recruitment and training of the Scope & Sequence revision committee.
  • Partnerships: Serves as a liaison between the Curriculum and Instruction department and other departments within the MNPS Support Hub (SEL, EL, EE, MTSS, etc.) and partners with the Director of Professional Learning to ensure consistent messaging across departments. Manages external partnerships, as needed. Engages with partners who provide tutoring and other extended learning opportunities.
  • Communication: Provides timely information and updates to stakeholders via the current LMS, MNPS Mathematics website, district-approved mathematics social media accounts, and other district-approved avenues of communication. Coordinate with the Communications Department to highlight and publicly share math-focused content.
  • Data Analysis: Supports schools to implement standards-aligned common assessments and analyze the data to make instructional and/or programmatic decisions.


Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Required


Experience Qualifications

  • 2-3 years coaching at the school- or district-level Preferred

  • Extensive content knowledge of mathematics, strong reading, writing and speaking skills, positive mindset, ability to develop a plan and execute the details, strong organizational abilities, extensive relationship-building skills, collaborative spirit and openness to new ideas, strong peer network.
