Job Description

 
We are seeking a hands-on Data Scientist with a strong foundation in software engineering and cloud-based analytics, preferably on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is ideal for an early-career data science professional who enjoys building, deploying, and scaling data-driven and GenAI solutions in real-world environments.
You will work closely with engineers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to develop predictive and generative AI models, integrate them into applications, and deploy them on cloud platforms to deliver measurable business value.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Data Science & Model Development
  • Develop predictive models such as regression, classification, clustering, and time-series analysis.
  • Assist in building and integrating Generative AI solutions (e.g., LLM-based Q&A, summarization, and content generation).
  • Perform data exploration, feature engineering, and model evaluation using Python-based libraries.
  • Apply basic model tuning and performance optimization under guidance from senior team members.
Software Engineering & API Integration
  • Write production-ready Python code following software engineering best practices.
  • Build and consume REST APIs to integrate models into applications.
  • Work with authentication, JSON/REST payloads, error handling, logging, and debugging.
Cloud & GCP-Based Analytics
  • Develop and deploy data science solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Work with services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Vertex AI, or Compute Engine.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams on cloud-based data pipelines.
Model Deployment & Operations (Light MLOps)
  • Assist with deploying models into development and production environments.
  • Support monitoring and troubleshooting of deployed models and pipelines.
  • Follow established CI/CD and MLOps practices.
Collaboration & Learning
  • Work with cross-functional teams to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
  • Participate in internal training, demos, and reusable asset development.
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

 

Required Qualifications

 
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience
3–5 years of professional experience in Data Science, Analytics, or Applied Machine Learning.
Technical Skills
  • Strong proficiency in Python and working knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience with pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn.
  • Exposure to Generative AI and LLM-based solutions.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and application integration.
  • Experience with GCP or other cloud platforms.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Exposure to Vertex AI, LangChain, or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Basic understanding of MLOps concepts.
  • Experience with Graph databases such as Neo4j.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in GenAI and cloud technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Clear communication skills.

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is 70,000- 110,000

Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.

The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.

These may include, but are not limited to: Geographic location, Education and qualifications, Certifications and licenses, Relevant experience and skills, Seniority and performance, Market and business consideration, Internal pay equity.

It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
