They ensure high-quality, efficient production, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and adhere to safety standards. This role often involves working with smaller, specialized, or desktop-style finishing equipment in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation & Setup: Set up and operate equipment such as cutters, folders, stitching machines, and small perfect binders to produce finished goods. Job Specification Adherence: Review job tickets, work orders, and proofs to ensure accuracy in folding, binding, and cutting. Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects (e.g., proper alignment, binding strength) to meet quality standards. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, blade changes) and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime. Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhere to OSHA standards, and manage materials. Work Environment Active, fast-paced print shop or production plant. Exposure to noise, ink, and, in some cases, chemical fumes. Qualifications Mechanical Aptitude: Strong ability to operate and adjust mechanical equipment. Attention to Detail: High level of precision in inspecting and producing work. Experience: Prior experience in commercial print finishing or operating bindery equipment. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift, move, or handle paper stock and materials (often up to 50 lbs.). Technical Skills: Basic computer knowledge may be required for operating modern digital equipment.
