Position Summary

Our Nashville, TN office has an opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our Labor & Employment practice. The ideal candidate will have state and federal trial and arbitration experience and will research law, investigate facts, and prepare documents to assist attorneys throughout all phases of litigation. The Paralegal also independently researches and analyzes legal authorities, including statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes, to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, discovery, and appeals for attorney review and use.


Essential Functions

  • Researches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters
  • Summarizes complex legal documents, including depositions
  • Organizes and indexes case files
  • Assists with calendaring and monitoring matter deadlines
  • Performs wide variety of legal research and data compilation with little or no supervision
  • Assists with filing pleadings with courts and arbitrators
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, declarations and pleadings as directed
  • Drafts a variety of legal documents
  • Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file
  • Assists with preparation for mediations and trials
  • Assists Attorneys at trial
  • Assists Attorneys in preparation for depositions
  • Communicates with witnesses and experts
  • Enters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Paralegal certification / degree from accredited college or university
  • 6+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practice
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, Live Note, Concordance, Case Map, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems
