Mortgage Loan Officer
Position Summary
Lending Hand Mortgage is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Mortgage Loan Officer to help borrowers achieve their homeownership goals while building strong referral partner relationships. The Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, educating borrowers on financing options, and guiding clients through the mortgage process from application to closing.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Origination & Sales
- Generate new mortgage loan business through self-sourced leads, referrals, Realtors, builders, financial planners, and community outreach.
- Consult with borrowers to understand their financial goals and recommend appropriate mortgage solutions.
- Present and explain various loan programs including Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, and Non-QM loans.
- Convert incoming leads into completed loan applications and funded loans.
Borrower Consultation
- Conduct mortgage consultations and pre-qualification reviews.
- Analyze borrower income, assets, credit, and financial profiles.
- Educate clients on loan options, interest rates, closing costs, and mortgage terms.
- Develop customized financing strategies to meet borrower objectives.
Relationship Development
- Build and maintain referral partnerships with Realtors, builders, Attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors.
- Attend networking events, open houses, and community activities to generate business.
- Deliver exceptional service that encourages repeat business and referrals.
- Maintain ongoing communication with referral partners regarding transaction status.
Loan Process Management
- Collect and review required borrower documentation.
- Submit complete loan files to processing and underwriting.
- Monitor loan progress and proactively address issues that could impact closing timelines.
- Coordinate with processors, underwriters, title companies, and closing agents to ensure a smooth transaction.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all loan files comply with federal, state, investor, and company guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records within the Loan Origination System (LOS).
- Complete required disclosures and documentation within regulatory timeframes.
- Uphold all NMLS licensing and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications
- Active NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator License (preferred or required based on state regulations).
- Previous mortgage, banking, financial services, or sales experience preferred.
- Strong sales and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to analyze financial documentation and loan scenarios.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with mortgage technology, LOS platforms, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
