Job Summary

The purpose of the Neckline/Fingerboard CNC Operator is to take radius cut fingerboards and mill precise inlay routings that prepare the components to be assembled into the final product. Inlay routing is where the fingerboards are cut to accept the inlays. Team members are required to have great attention to detail and intimate knowledge of the different models and machine programs. This is where a fingerboard begins to take on the characteristics that determine what model it will be and is a vital process in the creation of a guitar that is both beautiful and unique.


Essential Functions

  • Learn and execute standard operating procedures.
  • Safely operate complex CNC machinery.
  • Perform routine checks for safety and quality on all tools associated with machines.
  • Inspect incoming material for proper quality and quantity.
  • 95% pass rate based on production requirements.
  • Operate to a set weekly output schedule.
  • Understands and meets quality standards (Specs.) 
  • Maintains product flow at appropriate rate.
  • Adheres to department protocols (5S and Safety) 
  • Adherence to the Gibson Cardinal Safety Rules as per the Gibson Playbook for Cardinal Safety Rules and General Safety Rules.
  • Obligation to submit safety observations for identified hazards using the safety observation QR code.
  • Support the comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure a safe work environment, maintain compliance with regulations, and improvement of our safety processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints as well as adjusting offsets.
  • Outstanding time management skillset with the ability to prioritize without direct supervision. 
  • Develop a strong understanding of all guitar models.


Required Education and Experience

  • Results oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to plan.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a team
