Oncology Clinical Pharmacist

Model Oncology | Nashville, TN

About Model Oncology

Model Oncology partners with community health systems to build and operate sustainable oncology programs. The organization does not function as a conventional consultancy that delivers a strategy and exits, nor as a traditional management services organization administering back-office functions at a distance. Model Oncology embeds within each partner system, operating alongside health system teams and assuming accountability for program outcomes over the long term.

The organization's work encompasses program design, physician recruitment, pharmacy strategy, payer contracting, and the operational infrastructure required for community health systems to deliver high-quality cancer care locally. Model Oncology holds itself to the standard of a genuine, accountable partner rather than a vendor.

Position Summary

Model Oncology is seeking an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist to serve as a subject matter expert on emerging oncology treatment modalities, including gene and cellular therapies, T-cell engagers, and radiotheranostics. Reporting to the Vice President of Integrated Care Operations, this individual will build clinical protocols and training programs and serve as a clinical expert to help prepare partner health system teams to adopt new therapy classes safely. You will lead through influence across matrixed, multi-site teams to drive consistent practice without formal reporting authority. This role requires deep clinical expertise, independent decision making, and the ability to translate fast-moving evidence into practical guidance in an environment where new therapies and partner needs are constantly evolving.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical subject matter expert on advanced oncology therapies, including gene and cellular therapies, T-cell engagers, radiopharmaceuticals/radiotheranostics, antibody-drug conjugates, and other emerging modalities.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, fielding and answering complex oncology cancer therapy questions escalated from internal stakeholders and partner teams.
  • Lead through influence, without formal reporting authority, across matrixed, multi-site teams, driving consistent clinical practice and program adoption without formal reporting authority over stakeholders.
  • Partner with health system pharmacy and nursing leadership to assess readiness for new therapy classes and build implementation and training plans for safe adoption.
  • Develop and deliver education and training programs that prepare partner nursing and pharmacy teams to manage advanced and novel therapies with confidence.
  • Design and build clinical protocols, pathways, and standard operating procedures for cancer therapy administration, monitoring, and adverse event management.
  • Proactively evaluate emerging clinical evidence and incorporate new findings into protocols, education, and practice standards before widespread community adoption
  • Expand patient access to innovative therapies by integrating clinical trials into established care pathways across partner locations
  • Execute on internal Model Oncology goals and metrics, leading in areas of ownership and partnering in areas where ownership lies with another team
  • Represent Model Oncology as a credible clinical voice in partner relationships, positioning the company as a trusted authority on advanced oncology care.
  • Represent Model Oncology externally and contribute to the broader oncology knowledge base through conference presentations, publications, and speaking engagements, building the organization's reputation as a thought leader in advanced oncology therapy.

Qualifications

  • PharmD required.
  • Licensed pharmacist.
  • PGY2 residency training in oncology pharmacy.
  • Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP).
  • Minimum 5 years of oncology pharmacy experience, including direct experience with cellular therapies, bispecifics, radiotheranostics, or other advanced modalities.
  • Experience with clinical trial integration into standard of care.
  • Demonstrated experience building clinical protocols, training programs, or education curricula for oncology care teams.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to engage physicians, nurses, and pharmacy leadership as a peer expert.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, growing organization with significant latitude and accountability.
  • Prior experience building or leading clinical programs across multiple sites or a health system preferred.
  • Epic experience preferred.
