EnSafe is accepting applications for a Mid-Level to Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer to join us in our Nashville, Tennessee office. 

Successful candidates must be willing to work at the Nashville, TN office. Relocation assistance is available to meet this expectation.

What We Are Looking for:

We are seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Design Engineer who is ready to support and manage a variety of projects that may include industrial wastewater treatment, stormwater management (addressing hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality), civil site design, and solid waste collection, transfer, and disposal facilities (e.g., landfills for municipal and industrial wastes). The right candidate will enrich our team of engineers and scientists and may also participate in remediation projects involving contaminants such as PFAS, 1,4-dioxane, chlorinated solvents, and heavy metals for sites regulated under state and federal laws.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Prepare, review, and mentor junior staff in the development of design basis, technology feasibility analyses and selection, and design plans, specifications, and reports. 
  • Lead and support environmental engineering projects and teams to evaluate, design, and in some instances, construct, operate, and optimize remedial systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to teams working across multiple offices throughout the country, problem-solving, mentoring, leading by example, and participating in corporate technical initiatives.
  • Plan and/or perform assessments, pilot tests, and construction oversight.
  • Prepare and/or lead the preparation of preliminary environmental engineering reports summarizing the evaluation of alternatives and presenting design criteria for the recommended solution. 
  • Communicate with regulatory personnel and permitting agencies to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Provide project and client management across a range of clientele, from small businesses to complex industrial and governmental facilities.
  • Draft proposals, cost estimates, and long-term projections for projects.
  • Collaborate with our Nashville Business Lead to develop, grow, and supervise the local design engineering team. 

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • ABET Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering. 
  • 7-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Tennessee P.E., or the ability to obtain within three months.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, along with graphic software/AutoCAD, necessary for conceptual design.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, such as CWA, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, etc.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Strong work ethic and close attention to detail.
  • First-hand experience with treatment technologies for industrial wastewater, stormwater management, solid waste handling, landfill leachate, groundwater, and soil.
  • Proficiency in treatment system instrumentation and controls, as well as remote telemetry, is a plus.
  • Strong consulting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Business development experience desired but not required.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel overnights; averaging <25%.
