Title:  WeGo Transit Navigator - Bilingual

Position Reports to:  Customer Care Manager

 

Purpose:  WeGo Transit Navigators are assigned to various stations throughout WeGo Public Transit, RTA, and WeGo Star stations. There are two primary functions. The first function is responsible for implementing and designing strategic Outreach initiatives within the communities. Encouraging travelers to access public transportation and community participation by providing support, information, training & education to promote quality travel instruction. The second function is to be highly visible at assigned stations, attend Community Outreach events, and conduct surveys. Activities will include building and growing partnerships with local organizations in the region. 

Principal Job Functions

  • Identify, establish, and manage partnerships with community-based organizations 
  • Build grassroots capacity within the community, organizations, and college/university campuses by identifying new supporters.
  • Create educational opportunities and events to engage the public on transportation through various community engagement techniques 
  • Coordinates logistics & materials for tabling events & attendance at special large scale community events i.e. Earth Day, Back 2 School Bash, Neighbor to Neighbor etc.
  • Assist with staffing informational booth at designated stations and handling electronic devices for the purpose of information processing.
  • Provides resources, presentations, and educational materials for participants, prospective participants for Outreach events or at assigned station.
  • Collaboration with community-based residential and non-residential supervision and treatment services i.e. Dismas Charities, Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility, Men of Valor etc.
  • Maintain an accurate and timely record keeping system that will provide feedback to WeGo Public Transit regarding project progress and outcomes.
  • Responsible for engaging individuals into a Travel Training session and prepare the Trip Planning worksheet that meets the needs of the rider.
  • Maintains documentation of customer engagement activities to ensure service continuity across all departments.
  • Collaboration with the MTA/RTA Marketing & Planning Dept to coordinate targeted community engagement on special projects
  • Works with Customer Care Supervisor to ensure growth opportunities are being met and to heighten community awareness through transit education & outreach. 

Recommended Preparation for Employment:  

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Must demonstrate leadership ability and the ability to function as a team member. Demonstrated track record of motivating and energizing others. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritizes work assignments. Occasionally, subject to after-hours and/or weekend events. Working knowledge of Nashville’s public transportation system required. Must hold a current license to operate a motor vehicle.  

Physical Requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Perform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as positioning client or setting up, modifying, and operating equipment.
  • 75% travel required, must have flexibility to accommodate. 
  • Walk, sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, remain in positions for prolonged periods such as during various job training activities. 
  • Position requires ability to occasionally lift greater than twenty pounds. 
  • Communicate with a variety of people with varying ability to comprehend.

  • Customer service skills in person and via telephone (patience, phone etiquette, and professionalism)

  • Must adapt to day-to-day shifts in workplace schedules.

  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office Suites.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including ability to interpret and communicate technical information
