Job Description:

Overview:

As a key member of a survey crew, the Rodman provides essential support to ensure the successful completion of land surveying projects under the direction of the Party Chief.

Responsibilities:

  • Clear brush and obstacles to maintain line of sight.

  • Carry and set up equipment, such as rods, tripods, and prisms, for staking and measurement.

  • Load and unload survey equipment and supplies for job assignments.

  • Maintain survey supplies, such as nails, paint, rods, and flags, ensuring the crew is prepared for daily tasks.

  • Gather supplies, dig for corners, and cut lines.

  • Search for and correctly identify monuments.

  • Plumb prisms to ensure accurate measurements.

  • Measure distances using chains, tape, or other methods.

  • Clean and maintain survey equipment.

  • Complete other tasks related to field surveying as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certification required.

  • Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.

  • Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work collaboratively with engineering staff and management.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and terrains for extended periods.

  • Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis.

  • Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
