The Night Auditor is responsible for verifying and balancing daily financial transactions generated by the hotel. This critical role ensures the accuracy of guest folios, posts revenues, and prepares daily reports for management. The Night Auditor also serves as the primary point of contact for guests during the overnight hours, providing exceptional service and ensuring their safety and security. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting and customer service skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform end-of-day procedures, including running system reports, balancing accounts, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Post room charges, food and beverage charges, phone charges, and other miscellaneous charges to guest accounts accurately.
  • Process guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently and courteously during the overnight shift.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute daily revenue and statistical reports to relevant departments.
  • Reconcile credit card transactions and prepare bank deposits.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
  • Ensure the security and safety of the hotel and its guests during the night.
  • Conduct regular property walks to monitor safety and security.
  • Respond to emergency situations and follow established protocols.
  • Operate the hotel's property management system (PMS) effectively.
  • Prepare for the next day's business by ensuring sufficient supplies and a clean and organized front desk area.

Other Tasks:

  • Assist with setting up the breakfast area as needed.
  • Light cleaning duties in the lobby and front desk area.
  • Respond to guest requests for wake-up calls.
  • Run errands as directed by management.
  • Assist other departments as needed during slow periods.
  • Stay updated on hotel policies, procedures, and promotions.
  • Participate in training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in accounting, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a hotel front office or accounting role is highly desirable.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with property management systems (PMS) is an advantage.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
