Internship Description/Learning Objectives:
| Junior Camp Counselors will support the daily operations of a dynamic summer camp, working alongside peers and professional staff to deliver an engaging, educational, and character-building experience for local youth. Team members will assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating a wide range of activities—including arts, sports, games, and enrichment stations—while ensuring a safe, supportive, and fun environment for all campers.
Participants will receive training to serve as mentors and small-group leaders, helping guide campers through daily routines and activities. Throughout the program, Junior Camp Counselors will learn to celebrate camper achievements, encourage positive behavior, model strong character, help resolve conflicts, and promote an inclusive and respectful community. This role offers meaningful leadership development, hands-on experience working with children, and an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the summer experience of young participants.

Job Duties:
| - Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all children throughout camp activities. - Plan and facilitate social–emotional learning activities that promote character development, teamwork, and positive behavior. - Set up and tear down games, activity stations, and program materials to ensure smooth daily operations. - Provide individualized assistance to campers who may need additional support or guidance during activities. - Lead interactive activities that help campers transition between sessions and maintain engagement. - Conduct group discussions focused on character building, leadership skills, and strengthening group dynamics.

Work Schedule Days and Hours:
| Tuesday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 20 hours a week.

| Uniform shirts will be provided. Appropriate length shorts or pants are permitted. Closed toe shoes are required.

Physical Requirements:
| - Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the day, often for extended periods. - Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds (e.g., supplies, equipment). - Ability to participate in physical activities with campers, including running, climbing, and other outdoor games. - Ability to work in varied weather conditions and outdoor or indoor environments.

| Work takes place in a variety of environments, including both indoor and outdoor activities with children. Active, fast-paced setting with frequent interaction with campers and staff. Exposure to sun, heat, and occasional rain during outdoor activities.

The full program is June 1st – July 17th
June 1st – June 3rd: Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport
June 5th – July 17th: Team Members on site at their agencies on Monday-Friday at the time
scheduled by employer. You will be scheduled to work 4 hours daily
which equals 20 hours per week.
July 13th – July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program - End of Summer
Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the
summer.
If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project-based employment for youth ages 14 -15.
Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
