The Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC) is the designated Community Action Agency for Nashville and Davidson County, serving over 20,000 low-income residents annually. Using a two-generation (2Gen) approach, MAC provides Head Start/Early Head Start, utility/rent assistance, and adult education to break the cycle of poverty and improve economic security. 

 

The Transformation and Innovation division provides service coordination, data analytics, and innovative practices to help Davidson County residents achieve self-sufficiency.

Internship Description/Learning Objectives:

 

As a Project Management (PM) internship is designed to bridge theoretical knowledge from the classroom with practical application in a business environment. Interns generally support project managers by assisting with planning, tracking deliverables, facilitating meetings, and managing project risks. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Project Planning & Scheduling: Assist in developing project plans, defining tasks, and maintaining schedules using tools like MS Project, Excel, or Smartsheet.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain project logs (risk registries, issue logs), take meeting minutes, and update status reports to monitor project health.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication: Act as a liaison between team members, stakeholders, and vendors to facilitate communication and ensure alignment.
  • Quality Assurance & Analysis: Assist with quality assurance tasks and conduct research to support decision-making.
  • Administrative Support: Coordinate meetings, update project folders, and ensure documentation is properly archived. 

Learning Objectives (Skills Development)

  • Project Methodologies: Gain a foundational understanding of various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and how to apply them.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Learn to identify, analyze, and monitor project risks and issues, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Technical Tool Proficiency: Build hands-on experience with project management software (Trello, Asana, Monday.com, Jira, etc.).
  • Communication Skills: Develop professional communication skills by presenting status updates to project teams and stakeholders.

May 22nd:                       College Ambassador attend virtual orientation from 10am – 11am. 

          Link will be sent, if you are placed in a position.   

 

May 26th – May 29th       College Ambassador Training week with Employer.

 

June 1st and July 17th     Regular worksite schedule given by supervisor.

                                    

July 17th                           Last day of program.
