PACU REGISTERED NURSE

Description

This is a Monday - Friday position with some call included.

Job Summary PACU Nurse: Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Assists with the maintenance of PACU equipment and inventory. Participates in performance improvement activities. Responsible for monitoring patient’s physiological status in the immediate postoperative environment. Communicates with surgeon and anesthesia provider continuously, and as needed, about patient conditions; receives direction for patient management. Intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

2. Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Louisiana

3. Current BCLS certification.

4. Current ACLS certification or Basic EKG/Arrhythmia-identification preferred.

5. Current PALS certification preferred.

6. For SDS, two (2) years Nursing experience preferred

7. For Circulating RN, a minimum of one (1) year work experience in the operating room preferred.

8. For Endoscopy RN, Endoscopic experience preferred

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

2. Additional languages preferred.

3. Basic computer knowledge.
