Position Summary:    Under general supervision, the Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products.

 

This position will involve approximately 90% Shop and 10% in field repair activity.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Conducts pump, unit open/ inspections, and rebuild in accordance with Blackmer drawings and process
  • Maintains tools, safety equipment, instruments, and materials, specific to pump, motor, and equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Operates a variety of equipment including hand and power tools as needed to construct, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment. Maintains and cares for all equipment and tools. Performs cleaning, lubricating of tools as required
  • Operates forklifts
  • Constructs plywood shipping boxes
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers, outside partners, i.e. Government Inspectors
  • Properly store, use, and dispose of waste/ HAZMAT, scrap metal in accordance with posted Local/ State regulations and Company policy
  • Paint and prime product per customer and government specifications/ contracts
  • Maintains regular attendance and adherence to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.
  • Works overtime as required with advance approval from manager
  • Observes safe work practices and safety methods, follows all safety rules and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workstation
  • Perform duties in a professional manner and teams well with others
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • United States Citizen/ Permanent residence
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Military experience highly preferred 
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Ability to be granted military base access
  • Working knowledge of all tools and measuring devices required for pump repair
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations 
  • Effectively communicate by responding to questions from groups of managers, engineers, and other customers
  • Ability to understand and apply basic math principles
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Read and interpret drawings of technical information and government contracts
  • Proficient in all Shop Processes and Procedures

Work Environment:

             

  • The environment is primarily in a controlled climate office and warehouse setting but will require time on the shop floor.  The Shop floor environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature, and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Pay Range: $32-$35 per hour

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
