ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Plant Mechanic to support operations at our Otsego, MI Quarry. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery.  Also to maintain, install and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery. This position is based out of the Otsego, MI shop and supports all CER sites, including Dundee, Manchester, Battle Creek, Wayland, Edwardsburg, and Kalamazoo.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on quarry plant equipment and mobile machinery and reports required repairs or other findings to Area Manager.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and complete timely repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and make on-site repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies while working on equipment.
  • Coordinate with operations and supervisors to prioritize maintenance needs.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and shutdown/startup activities.
  • Rebuild or fabricate parts; repair electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or GED (required). 

Field of Study Preferred: Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Diesel Technology, or a related technical trade.

Required Work Experience: 3 year experience mechanical maintenance experience required; welding experience preferred

  • Proven experience as a plant or quarry mechanic in an industrial environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, and cutting equipment (preferred)
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance independently
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call as needed
  • Stay updated on new technologies and maintenance practices to improve efficiency and equipment reliability

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
