 The Project Management Manager is responsible for the people leadership, capability development, and consistency of the Project Management practice within the Business Technologies department. This role manages and coaches a team of Project Managers and the PM Team Lead, ensures effective capacity and resource alignment, and drives the adoption of standard delivery practices across all initiatives. The PM Manager partners closely with Portfolio, Program, Business Analysis, and other BT leaders to enable predictable delivery, support project managers through complex delivery challenges, and continuously improve project management maturity. Attention to detail, organization, communication, and self-initiative are key skills for this role.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:Associate degree in Information Technology or Business, bachelor’s degree preferred. PMP Certification preferred.

Experience: 10 years or more in project management; prior management or team leadership beneficial or any appropriate combination of education and experience as determined by management. Exposure to Agile a plus. Experience leading project management teams preferred.

Travel: 15%

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday - Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:

  • Own PM capacity planning in partnership with the PM Team Lead and Portfolio Manager
  • Partner with PPM Portfolio Manager to develop and evolve the Project Management Playbook
  • Ensure consistent use of processes, standards, tools, reporting, and metrics by the project management team
  • Monitor project delivery health across all projects
  • Coach PMs through complex stakeholder or delivery challenges
  • Act as the primary escalation point for PM-related issues

Relationship Management and Leadership:

  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with business owners, project sponsors, vendors, consultants and key clients.
  • Directly manages PM Team Lead and Project Managers, including hiring & onboarding, performance management, career development & progression, coaching and mentoring
  • Own PM capacity planning in partnership with the PM Team Lead and Portfolio Manager
  • Integrates PMI PM standards and develops training path for PM growth
  • Leads the PM team through project execution
  • Ensures PM team meets business needs

Problem Solving and Analysis:

  • Facilitates gathering of information required to determine level of effort for estimating cost, scope, timeline and resources needed for project completion.
  • Makes recommendations for system or process improvements that meets business needs or drives business value; identifies costs, risks, benefits and work effort needed for recommendations
  • Ensures business needs are met and business value achieved throughout project execution
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
