POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

TRAVEL REQUIRED: <10%

WORK SCHEDULE: Day Shift (Occasional Night Meetings and Overnight Travel)


POSITION SUMMARY

The mechanical estimator position is designed for an estimator who has gained the knowledge necessary to focus on the MEP trades for the company's conceptual estimates. This individual serves as a key member of the preconstruction team, contributing to the preconstruction process to successfully bring projects together. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

  • Creates high-level and/or detailed MEP budgets.
  • Produces quantity takeoffs on projects.
  • Value-engineers projects to maintain budgets.
  • Identifies and appropriately mitigates risk.
  • Analyzes and interprets subcontractor proposals. 
  • Revies subcontractor scopes and/or bid-leveling amongst subcontractors
  • Makes reliable and accurate conclusions based on information gathered.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office products, PDFs, and various estimating software on a daily basis.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field, or a combination of training and experience that provides sufficient knowledge of construction and processes to prepare high-level and detailed estimates.
  • Experience in the plumbing, mechanical, and/or electrical field
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in estimating or a project management role.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, interpret, and compare detailed and often inadequately defined information in order to prepare an accurate and detailed estimate.
  • Comfortable presenting verbally and in writing in a manner that is relevant to the audience and manages client expectations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primarily an office environment with periodic visits to manufacturing sites or other construction-related sites.
