POSITION SUMMARY
The project estimator is an intermediate position responsible for estimating 20 to 40 projects a year, with an approximate value of $5 million to $20 million per project, depending on the difficulty of the project. It is expected that the individual demonstrates a commitment to continue learning and gaining the ability to motivate the bid team to work collaboratively.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•    Engages in learning opportunities to strengthen skills.
•    Participates in project site visits to evaluate existing conditions.
•    Reviews bid documents to establish a basic understanding of the project.
•    Solicits subcontractors and vendors to bid and exercises multiple communication methods to ensure scope coverage.
•    Reviews subcontractor scopes (external and Miron Self-Perform) and coordinates bid requirements with internal estimating team.
•    Produce self-perform quantity takeoff and conducts an initial labor production analysis within the estimate
•    Establishes mid-level preliminary project schedules.
•    Creates and fulfills the final bid day solution.
•    Generates appropriate deliverables to present estimate to internal project teams as well as external architects and/or owners.Â
•    Maintains strong communication with all stakeholders.
•    Utilizes Microsoft Office products, PDFs, and various estimating software.
•    Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
•    Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or any combination of education and professional experience that would meet the responsibilities listed above.
•    At least one to five years of experience in a construction-related field is desirable.Â
•    Ability to quickly analyze, interpret, and compare detailed and often inadequately defined information.Â
•    Ability to make reliable and accurate conclusions based on information gathered.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Â
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily an office environment with periodic visits to manufacturing sites or other construction-related sites.Â

The following outlines how much on-the-job time is spent on specific physical activities. Under 1/3 of your time will be spent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Up to 2/3 of your time will be spent sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talking or hearing. Our office environment requires extensive computer work and use of the phone.Â
