POSITION SUMMARY
The safety manager will maintain positive working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and peer safety professionals. This individual will integrate and drive the concept of Safety, Quality, Production (SQP) into the company's culture to ensure its success. The safety manager will exemplify the Speak Up, Listen Up, Recognize It cultural movement in daily assigned duties and deliver highly effective Excellence Huddles, Stand-Down meetings, safety training, and project/new hire orientations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists field leadership personnel with the delivery and execution of morning Excellence Huddles, Stretch-N-Flex, Tips of the Day, and routine and management audits.
- Performs project orientations and maintains records of completed orientations.
- Coordinates all new employee training records to include employee training history with the company and the union, ensuring subjects covered during training align with the tasks being assigned at the project site.
- Assists in scheduling, coordinating, and completing/following up on field and office staff substance abuse testing per the company's and/or union's trade program.Â
- Performs audits and equipment inspections, and verifies permits are issued, completed, and maintained.
- Coordinates and leads weekly safety meetings, Toolbox Talks, and Stand-Down meetings.
- Maintains and manages organization and housekeeping of the project site.
- Regularly utilizes Microsoft Office products, PDF's, and various software to complete tasks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five years of experience in construction.
- Ability to quickly analyze and exercise sound judgement when making decisions.
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
- Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) certification or equivalent held or obtained within one year of hire date for this role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Â
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily a project site environment with periodic visits to company offices or other related sites.Â

The following outlines how much on-the-job time is spent on specific physical activities. Under 1/3 of your time will be spent using hands to finger, handle, or feel and lifting up to 100 pounds. Up to 2/3 of your time will be spent sitting, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and lifting up to 25 pounds. Over 2/3 of your time will be spent talking or hearing.
