Custom Marine currently has an opening for a Saw Operator to work on 1st shifts in our Neenah, WI facility.

POSITION SUMMARY

  1. Accurately cuts/saws mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum raw materials such as shafting, tubing, angle, channel, and other structural shapes.
  2. Read blueprints, department work instructions, routings and drawings.
  3. Expands and notch end of tubing according to print.
  4. Operate punch press as needed. 
  5. Examine saw sheet and pull required material from steel racks.
  6. Set up stops on the saw for multiple cuts.
  7. Set up proper saw speeds and feed rate for the blade along with maintaining an adequate level of coolant. 
  8. Following instructions on mixing and adding coolant when necessary.
  9. Check the accuracy of cut lengths and be aware when to change worn blades so as not to interfere with accuracy and production rates.
  10. The operator checks the pieces of steel in the cutoff rack to utilize the smaller lengths when possible.
  11. Safely handling 20-40 ft lengths of steel as individual pieces are in bundles.
  12. De-burring all cut pieces to smooth ends.
  13. Adjust machine controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure.
  14. Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as rulers, micrometers, or scales.
  15. Monitor operation of cutting or slicing machines to detect malfunctions or to determine whether supplies need replenishment.
  16. Safely operating overhead crane.
  17. Operate a forklift to help unload steel trucks when a delivery is made and put the materials away in the designated racks.
  18. Maintains an organized and clean work area. 
  19. Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances.
  2. Must be able to read a tape measure, calipers, and other machine tolerance measuring tool.
  3. Ability to follow instructions.
  4. Ability to measure accurately and run a variety of production saws.
  5. Capable of using hand and power tools.
  6. Basic machine operating skills on manual and semi-automated equipment.
  7. high mechanical aptitude.
  8. Ability to work independently or as a team.
  9. Adaptable to fast paced environment.
  10. Able to be on your feet, bend, twist and turn for a minimum of 10 hours a day.
  11. Able to lift / move 50 lbs.
  12. Willing to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.
