Job Summary
The Extended Care Aide provides a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for students before and/or after the regular school day. The aide supervises children, facilitates age-appropriate activities, assists with daily routines, and supports the Catholic mission and values of the school.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide active and attentive supervision of students during extended care hours.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all children.
- Assist with student check-in and dismissal according to school procedures.
- Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, reading, outdoor play, and quiet activities.
- Help students with homework, when appropriate.
- Assist students with snacks, meals, and personal needs.
- Encourage positive behavior, cooperation, kindness, and respect.
- Follow established classroom and extended-care rules and behavior expectations.
- Maintain appropriate student-to-staff supervision at all times.
- Help keep activity areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate concerns about student behavior, injuries, or other issues to the Extended Care Coordinator or appropriate school personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
- Support and model the Catholic values and mission of the school.
- Follow all school safety, emergency, child-protection, and supervision policies.
- Assist with special events, school activities, and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Dependable, patient, energetic, and nurturing personality.
- Ability to work effectively with children of different ages and abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to providing a safe and positive environment for students.
- Willingness to support the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
- Must complete required background checks, child-safety training, and other school-required certifications.
