Assistant Principal

Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156
Start Date: Spring 2026
Compensation Range: $70,000 – $85,000 annually (DOE)
Position Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a passionate and instructional-focused Assistant Principal to support the leadership and daily operations of our Nellis, Nevada campus. This role plays a critical part in supporting teachers, strengthening instructional practices, and ensuring a structured, high-expectations learning environment that drives strong student outcomes.

The Assistant Principal partners closely with the campus Principal and leadership team to support instructional coaching, teacher development, data-driven decision-making, and the implementation of systems that promote strong academic achievement and positive school culture.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who has demonstrated success as a classroom teacher and instructional leader and is committed to supporting educators and students in Title I and diverse school communities.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership & Teacher Development

  • Support teachers through instructional coaching, classroom observations, and feedback cycles

  • Assist with professional development planning and delivery aligned to instructional priorities

  • Analyze student achievement data to support instructional planning and targeted interventions

  • Model strong instructional practices and support consistent implementation of curriculum frameworks

School Culture & Student Support

  • Help establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations school culture

  • Support systems that promote student accountability, engagement, and academic success

  • Assist in resolving student behavioral concerns in alignment with campus policies and procedures

Leadership & Operational Support

  • Partner with the Principal to support daily campus operations and instructional priorities

  • Assist in monitoring academic progress and school-wide performance goals

  • Support teacher collaboration, professional learning communities, and staff development initiatives

  • Serve as acting administrator in the absence of the Principal when needed

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Administrator License or certification issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Prior experience serving as a Lead Teacher, Instructional Coach, Department Chair, or similar teacher-leadership role

  • Minimum 3 years of successful K–12 classroom teaching experience

  • Demonstrated ability to support instructional improvement and student achievement

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to analyze student performance data and support data-driven instruction

  • Commitment to serving Title I and diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field

  • Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments

  • Experience coaching teachers or supporting instructional leadership teams

  • Experience supporting English Language Learners or multilingual student populations

  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
