Shipping Clerk
Location: Neosho, MO
Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Pay:$22.00 per hour
Schedule: Weekends, overtime, and holidays as business needs require.
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the accurate shipping, receiving, and movement of materials throughout the facility. This position ensures products are received, stored, and shipped accurately while maintaining inventory integrity and supporting efficient warehouse operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to safety, quality, and customer service.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving (Approximately 50%)
- Prepare outbound shipments using the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods.
- Select appropriate packaging materials and safely package products to prevent damage during transit.
- Prepare bills of lading, shipping labels, and other required shipping documentation.
- Verify shipment quantities, destinations, and routing against work orders and shipping documentation.
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Sort, count, label, package, and record materials received or shipped.
- Route incoming materials to the appropriate departments or warehouse locations.
Inventory & Warehouse Operations (Approximately 45%)
- Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage or discrepancies and promptly report issues to the Warehouse Supervisor or Purchasing Department.
- Deliver materials to internal departments and obtain required documentation or signatures.
- Investigate and assist with tracing lost shipments and processing proof of delivery requests.
- Maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory records in warehouse systems.
- Support inventory accuracy through proper material handling and documentation.
Administrative & General Duties (Approximately 5%)
- Complete daily shipping and receiving paperwork accurately and on time.
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
Housekeeping & Safety (Approximately 5%)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
- Properly operate warehouse equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately count, verify, and record inventory.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of warehouse safety practices.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of warehouse, shipping, or receiving experience.
- Experience with warehouse inventory systems or ERP software.
- Knowledge of commercial shipping methods, carriers, and shipping documentation.
- Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
- Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, as required.
- Work in varying warehouse temperatures and environmental conditions.
Travel
No regular travel is required.
