Job DetailsJob Location: NEW BERLIN, WI 53151Position Type: Full TimeStatus: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt Salary: Salaries at Advanced Ionics are paid bi-weekly Reports to: Testing and Development Manager Position Summary: Electrolyzer Test Technician is responsible for executing electrolyzer test plans, including participating in test planning, fabrication and assembly of cells and stacks, operating test stations, completing data and postmortem analysis, and reporting test results and conclusions. Other responsibilities include supporting research and development testing and analysis activities ranging from analytical and lab scale testing to electrolyzer stack assembly and postmortem analysis. This is an opportunity to be very hands-on in a startup R&D test environment and collaborate with a diverse team of talented and passionate engineers and scientists with a common goal of decarbonizing heavy industry. Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Advanced Ionics office hours are 6:30am - 6:30pm, with core hours being 8am – 4pm Monday through Friday. Your work schedule will generally be within normal business hours. Occasionally, there will be requests to work outside of normal business hours for special events. In those instances, a notice will be sent as early as possible. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Essential Functions of the Position: Execute assigned experiments and tests, collect data, and ensure tests are conducted accurately and on schedule. Write and review electrolyzer cell and stack build and test plans. Maintain inventory of electrolyzer cell and stack materials to facilitate required testing. Assemble electrolyzer cells and other test articles in accordance with established specifications and guidelines and per lead investigator’s direction. Develop new and improve existing electrolyzer assembly and test procedures to increase test capability, quality, and throughput. Address questions or concerns related to electrolyzer assembly and test results as needed. Complete electrolyzer postmortem and failure analysis activities including material composition and other analytical measurements. Clean and maintain testing equipment, including the recalibration of devices as required. Manage equipment records and maintain work logs. Develop and maintain testing procedures to guarantee accurate and consistent results. Stay up to date with the latest technical and scientific advancements in your field. Familiar with laboratory processes, chemical safety, and analytical chemistry equipment. Experience designing and fabricating test apparatus or test samples. Experience repairing and maintaining test equipment and instrumentation. Strong hands-on learning aptitude. Ability to simplify and optimize complex processes. Exceptional attention to detail. Proficient in analyzing and organizing information and data for problem solving. Able to work and learn independently and drive results. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in analytical chemistry and materials testing including ICP-MS, XRD, SEM-EDS, gas chromatography, ion chromatography, porosimetry, powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis and BET. Experience and knowledge in electrochemical test techniques including EIS, LSV, OCV, and GITT.
