Stocker

Position Summary

The Stocker is responsible for receiving, stocking, rotating, and organizing merchandise throughout the store while maintaining clean, safe, and customer-ready sales floors and backrooms. This position plays a critical role in product availability, presentation, inventory accuracy, and overall store operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Stock shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays with merchandise according to company standards
• Rotate product using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods and monitor expiration dates
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe aisles, displays, and backroom areas
• Break down pallets, unload deliveries, and properly stage merchandise
• Verify product quantities and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to management
• Build and maintain promotional displays, endcaps, and ad features
• Assist with pricing, tagging, and replacing missing or incorrect shelf labels
• Remove damaged, expired, or unsellable product from sales floor
• Provide customer service by assisting customers with locating products when needed
• Follow company safety procedures while operating pallet jacks, carts, ladders, or other equipment
• Support all departments as directed by store management
• Maintain productivity and complete assigned tasks within scheduled shifts
• Assist with store recovery, fronting, and blocking throughout the day

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous grocery or retail stocking experience preferred but not required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift throughout the shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more with assistance
• Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods
• Ability to push, pull, and move loaded carts, pallets, and stocking equipment

Work Environment

• Grocery retail environment with frequent customer interaction
• Exposure to varying temperatures, including coolers and freezers
• Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and physical activity
