Position Description:
The Aerospace Incoming Inspector is responsible for verifying that purchased materials, components, and assemblies meet established aerospace quality standards and customer requirements before being released to production. This role ensures compliance with applicable specifications, drawings, contracts, and industry regulations such as AS9100.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, hardware, components, and assemblies per inspection plans, drawings, and specificationsÂ
- Verify certificates of conformance (CoC), test reports, and supplier documentation for accuracy and complianceÂ
- Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using calibrated inspection toolsÂ
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and purchase order requirementsÂ
- Record inspection results accurately in quality systems and inspection reportsÂ
- Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material in accordance with company proceduresÂ
- Initiate and support nonconformance reports (NCRs) and supplier corrective actionsÂ
- Maintain traceability and inspection status identification of materialsÂ
- Support audits (internal, customer, and regulatory) as requiredÂ
- Communicate inspection results and issues clearly with Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teamsÂ
- Follow AS9100, and company quality policies and proceduresÂ
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized inspection area
- Other duties that may be assigned by your supervisor
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED requiredÂ
- 2+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace or regulated manufacturing environmentÂ
- Previous Supplier Quality or receiving inspection experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specificationsÂ
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and optical comparatorsÂ
- Working knowledge of GD&TÂ
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, hardware, and certificationsÂ
- Basic computer skills (ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office)Â
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
