Summary of Position:

The Business Analyst, Private Client Group serves as a strategic partner to the Head of Private Client Group, exercising independent analytical judgment to provide analytical support, business intelligence, portfolio reporting, project coordination, and day-to-day business support. This role is designed for an individual who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, technologically proficient, fluent in the practical application of AI tools, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced commercial banking environment.

The primary duty of this position is the exercise of discretion and judgment on matters of significance related to the general business operations of the Private Client Group — including data analytics, business intelligence, portfolio and credit-related analysis, and business planning. Approximately 60–65% of this role's time is dedicated to these analytical and business-intelligence functions. The remaining time is spent on business coordination and executive-support functions (meeting management, communication workflows, and calendar/travel coordination), which are secondary to and performed in direct support of the analytical work above, while leveraging AI to drive efficiency across each of these functions.

Responsibilities include:

Data Analytics & Business Intelligence

  •  Develop and maintain commercial lending and deposit dashboards, scorecards and KPI reporting, determine dashboard methodology, data sources, and KPI definitions.
  • Analyze loan production, pipeline activity, deposits, portfolio concentrations, credit quality metrics, and profitability trends, exercising judgment in identifying which trends warrant escalation to leadership.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, reports, and management summaries for senior leadership and Board reporting purposes.
  • Prepare draft term sheets, including facility descriptions, pricing, covenants, and related structuring language, applying professional judgment to recommend structuring approaches for review by the Head of Private Client Group and Credit.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the portfolio through data analysis, and recommend a course of action based on that analysis.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning initiatives — including developing underlying assumptions and modeling approaches.
  • Create automated reporting solutions to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency, with discretion over tool selection and design.
  • Own CRM, pipeline management, and business development reporting.
  • Monitor lender productivity, portfolio growth, and client activity metrics.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to support lending decisions, strategic initiatives, and special projects.

AI & Automation

  • Leverage AI and generative tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to enhance data analysis, reporting, forecasting, and portfolio monitoring, and to draft communications, term sheets, and briefing materials.
  • Identify, implement, and champion AI-driven automation opportunities that reduce manual processes across lending operations, reporting, and business support, ensuring alignment with data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Business Coordination & Executive Support (Secondary Function)

  • Coordinate the Head of Private Client Group's calendar, scheduling, travel arrangements, and meeting logistics, exercising discretion in prioritizing competing demands on the Head's time.
  • Prioritize and manage incoming communications, including email organization, draft responses, and follow-up tracking, using thoughtful judgment to triage and route matters requiring the Head's attention.
  • Organize internal and external meetings, including preparation of agendas, materials, and action-item follow-up.
  • Maintain task lists, project timelines, and key deliverable tracking.
  • Prepare meeting summaries and briefing documents.
  • Serve as a liaison between commercial lending leadership, credit administration, operations, treasury management, and executive management.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and communication materials.

Private Client Group Administration

  • Maintain pipeline and portfolio tracking systems.
  • Collaborate on loan committee preparation by gathering, organizing, and validating information, and by flagging data anomalies requiring follow-up.
  • Coordinate special projects involving process improvements and technology implementations.
  • Support vendor and third-party management activities related to lending systems and reporting platforms.
  • Maintain centralized reporting repositories and departmental documentation.
  • Assist with examination, audit, and regulatory reporting requests as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in commercial banking, financial services, business analytics, or a related support role.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, Power Query, lookup functions, dashboard development, and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI and automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar), including practical experience applying AI to analytics, reporting, or administrative workflows.
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation development skills.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and lending platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with commercial lending, credit analysis, term sheet preparation, and banking operations is strongly preferred.
