Position Summary
Lead the daily operations of the counter sales team by fostering a high-performance, customer-focused environment. This role is responsible for developing and coaching employees, driving sales growth, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining efficient counter operations. The Counter Manager partners with internal teams, customers, and manufacturers to support business objectives while promoting employee development, operational excellence, and profitability.

Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the continuing education of all counter personnel, both internal and external.
- Review and improve operating policies and procedures. Ensure proper implementation and maintenance of approved changes.
- Recommend changes for staff members regarding employment, performance ratings, salary changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Resolve personnel issues.
- Support and guide direct reports in more complex phases of their training.
- Operate within the limits of the annual budget that is composed.
- Optimize sales and service efforts by ensuring inventory replenishment and stock cart levels of counter area is correct.
- Ensure counter and showroom areas are well-maintained, organized, and merchandised to company standards, creating an exceptional customer experience and promoting product visibility.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and development for counter personnel and Sales Trainee, ensuring new employees are effectively onboarded and all team members continue to build product knowledge, sales skills, and operational expertise.
- Meet with manufacturing representatives to discuss new products, promotions, displays, and employee training.
- Exemplify and drive proactive sales efforts with counter employees and hold them accountable to their goal.
- Develop and expand house account relationships by maintaining regular customer contact, identifying unmet needs, promoting company solutions, and converting opportunities into increased sales.
- Conduct monthly employee sales reviews.
- Effectively communicate with appropriate internal departments all counter sales events, specials, and promotions.
- Provide exceptional service to all customers regarding pricing, orders, and information about products on their accounts.
- Work closely with internal departments, as needed, on special job bids from customers.
- Maintain 24-hour emergency call list and counter mailing lists.
- Coordinate and create Saturday work schedule.
- Provide customer training that qualifies to earn Continuing Education Units toward their annual goals.
- Reconciliation of cash drawer.
- Assist with cycle counting efforts at the branch.
- Perform other duties as obvious or assigned.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position
- May be required to operate powered industrial trucks.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. several times a day, bend, twist, and climb.

- Complete an accident/Incident report for any safety and/or health infractions that occur or witnessed.

- Detail oriented, organized, consistent and tenacious.

- Organized with strong time management skills.  
- Self-motivated and self-starter.  
- Ability to learn our ERP system
- Minimum High School Diploma.  
- Customer Service Training/Experience is preferred 
- Lead/Management experience preferred
- Industry product knowledge beneficial
