Position Overview:

The Safety Liaison at BWT Logistics is key to fostering a culture of safety and compliance across our operations. This role ensures adherence to OSHA standards, leads incident investigations, and conducts regular audits to maintain a safe work environment. Collaborating with internal departments and external safety organizations, the Safety Liaison will implement safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and develop safety training programs that align with our commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct safety audits and assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and related regulations.
• Perform risk assessments for hazardous processes, materials, and equipment.
• Lead or assist in creating and implementing safety protocols, procedures, and training programs.
• Post and distribute all Safety and Near Miss Alerts to keep employees informed of potential hazards and incident prevention strategies.
• Maintain a filing system for all medical incidents, ensuring that all documentation, including emails, written narratives, and witness statements, are organized and readily accessible.
• Update and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in both written and electronic formats to ensure current information is available for all hazardous materials.
• Assist in the writing and updating of all Safety Policies and Guidelines to keep safety standards aligned with industry practices and regulatory changes.
• Complete and submit monthly safety reports detailing safety activities, incident summaries, and compliance status.
• Continuously enhance safety measures, including self-assessments, compliance checks, and audits.
• Investigate safety incidents, document findings.
• Manage accident investigations, reporting, and documentation for compliance.
• Partner with community safety organizations to promote safety initiatives and support a proactive safety culture.
• Serve as a liaison between departments to address safety concerns and drive behavioral-based safety practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong understanding of industry standards, including OSHA and safety management systems.
• OSHA Safety Certification, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Certification, or Certified Safety Professional designation preferred.
• Proven ability to drive cultural change and implement behavioral-based safety programs.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage all levels of management.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
