Construction Foreperson - What Will You Do?
- Assist project and/or job superintendent in the development of a detailed job plan for completion of the assigned construction task in relation to project production goals and budgeted costs.
- Be knowledgeable concerning budgeted cost(s) for the assigned task and exercise the skills and abilities to accomplish the work on time and within budget.
- Reference, in developing the job plan, all PDT Pub. Form 408 specifics including contract special provisions, supplements, contract plans, contract x-sections, contract plan typicals, contract standards and shop drawings if any.
- Verify job plan layouts of work specifications with engineers. Perform layout for standard items of work if surveyors are not readily available to keep the project moving.
- Be able to determine crew size necessary to complete work in a cost-effective manner.
- Work with project and/or job superintendent to establish daily job manpower schedules using the 2 week look ahead schedule approach.
- Plan, assign and notify crew members of specific job tasks.
- Detail and schedule equipment, tools, materials and supplies needed for timely job site delivery and availability.
- Know thoroughly all equipment to be used on job including capabilities and appropriate usage.
- Maintain all job site equipment in proper working order.
- Insure proper usage of tools and materials on job site work.

- Experience in construction or manufacturing is a plus but not required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and meets NESL's standards.
- Able to travel as needed. Some work locations may require extended travel.
- Ability to handle stress, interrelate positively both orally and in writing with others, the ability to attend work and be punctual as well as work overtime when required.
- Specific training and certifications may be required by department.
