Â
The Process Engineer is accountable for improving overall manufacturing processes through analysis and strategic planning. This position will work with the Manufacturing Manager to identify inefficient manufacturing processes, undertaking operational analysis, work design and methods, and work to eliminate them to increase output and decrease costs. In some instances, the Process Engineer will work with the Manufacturing Manager reviewing opportunities for simplification of tasks for improved effectiveness. This is a skilled position that requires previous experience and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing.

Nature and Scope

The position reports to the Manufacturing Manager as does the Manufacturing Coordinators, Process Engineering Technicians, Manufacturing Information Clerk and Manufacturing Lab Technicians.

The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

The Process Engineer must be able to collaborate with a cross functional team to ensure smooth transition of new processes, technologies, and equipment, while meeting project dates and budget.

The Process Engineer will participate in cross functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventative measures.

The Process Engineer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing process data, identifying trends, and propose solutions for process improvement. Â

The Process Engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce cost, minimize waste, and increase efficiency.

The Process Engineer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing process performance metrics, such as cycle time, yield, and scrap rates while implementing solutions to meet or exceed those targets that are set.

The Process Engineer must provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process related issues and implement solutions to address those issues.

The Process Engineer is responsible for training and guidance to the production team on procedures, equipment, and any new processes to ensure successful operation and implementation.

The Process Engineer is responsible for establishing all documentation that is related to the process, such as APQP, machine setup, machine operations, tooling instructions, work instructions, and gage instructions.

The Process Engineer is responsible for assisting Product Design with existing or new designs to ensure their manufacturing process and methods to ensure manufacturability can sustain safety, quality, and productivity.

Principal Accountabilities
- One of the primary responsibilities of a Process Engineer is to analyze current production procedures and standards to identify inefficiencies.Â
- Spend time on the production floor analyzing both employee and machinery workflow to find out where the process can be streamlined for lower costs and higher productivity while maintaining safety and quality.
- Assists in the monitoring of government requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.) to ensure work centers are in compliance with established standards.
- A requirement of this position is the ability to interact with individuals throughout the company, as well as individuals external to the company.Â
- The identification and/or generation of all documentation related to the integration of new products into the production environment.
- Perform analysis of part design characteristics, specifications and tolerances of parts, manufacturing process design, set up and tooling. Identification of subsequent changes to manufacturing drawings, as necessary.
- Optimization of processes to meet objectives of lowering cost and/or improving quality and productivity.
- Prior to project completion the Process Engineer will provide the proper documentation in the assembly and maintenance along with other technical files to Maintenance & Facilities Engineer.Â
- At project completion the Process Engineer is responsible for monitoring the new procedures and reporting successes and failures to the Manufacturing Manager.Â
- Actively promote process improvement to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations and to secure the future business position in the marketplace.Â
- Attend meetings and contribute to new product design review.
- The position is responsible for ensuring the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System which includes but not limited to significant environmental aspects, compliance obligations and environmental risks.
- This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS.

Working Conditions
Â
The office area is air-conditioned and working conditions are excellent. There’s also outside work on the production floor, which will vary with the season, weather and department . There will be work in areas which may expose the incumbent to hot metals, metal shavings, hydraulics, productions equipment, chemicals and other lubricants . The noise level is 50-80DB. Normal or corrected vision with no color deficiency, normal depth perception and peripheral vision of 180 degrees is required. Safety glasses are required whenever office personnel are in the plant production area. Hearing protection is not required but is encouraged for use in areas designated as high noise areas for more than brief visits by office personnel.
