Job DetailsJob Location: New Hartford, NY 13413Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Salary/yearJob Shift: DayDEPARTMENT:       Education and Training   POSITION:               Director of Professional Development   SUPERVISOR:         Vice President of Long Term Care Services   FULL-TIME:              Generally 8am to 4pm but flexibility with schedule to cover       Provides informal teaching on a daily basis as situations present with appropriate documentation of interventions.   Oversees education, training and documentation procedures for new licensed nursing employees with follow-up on unit orientation and provides weekly progress notes.   Researches and pilots new products in Nursing and writes summary for recommendation of use.   Designs programs that enhance nursing practice, knowledge, skills and attitude.   Coordinates student placement orientation and organizing preceptorship for students.   Consults with Director of Nursing and/or designee on clinical issues of resident care for policy and procedure formulation and revisions.   Designs programs to increase all staff competency/validity in areas of practice for all facility departments.   Maintains flexibility in scheduling to ensure necessary training opportunities to evening, night, and weekend shifts.   Performs periodical/literature research as needed to provide staff with the most updated information on clinical techniques/standards of practice.   Directly supervises the Associate Director(s) of Education.   Provides for nursing orientation of new nursing staff in absence of the Associate Director of Education.   Provides oversight for employee annual health requirements and reports/follow-up with Department Heads in regard to compliance.   Oversees and coordinates PCC training for licensed nursing and CNAs.   Spearheads immunization clinics for both employees and residents each Fall and ensures proper documentation is completed in both PCC and in the employee’s personnel file.  Compiles annual employee influenza vaccination information and reports results to Vice President of Long Term Care Services.   Collaborate with leadership to identify care gaps and update clinical procedures.   Maintains current clinical skills in both specialty equipment as well as in acute practice procedures to coordinate specialized training for complex resident care needs.   Provides RN on-call coverage based on a quarterly schedule.   Committee memberships include: Quality Assurance; Leadership Management Team; Medical Advisory; Survey Outcome/Pl Meetings; Daily Morning Report; Quality Measures Meetings;   Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility’s corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws.  Adheres to the facility’s confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees as necessary to perform job duties.   Performs any other functions as directed by the Vice President of Long Term Care Services and/or Director of Nursing Services.   QualificationsGraduate of an approved School of Nursing.  Current licensure to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.   Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.   Recent two (2) years long term care experience in a nursing home setting or acute care experience in a clinical setting.   One year of teaching experience preferred.   CPR Trainer status desirable.   Strong communication, leadership, organization and knowledge of Federal and State nursing home rules and regulations.   Experience/Training in leadership/management issues preferred.   Knowledge of MDS/CAA processes desirable.
