JOB SUMMARY: The Help Desk Technician is responsible for providing customer assistance for routine Information Systems-related inquiries and problems as they occur. This includes providing support for products and services such as software, hardware, desktop application software, auxiliary devices, and other IT functions. This position provides support to the global organization.Ā 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

• Perform installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of desktop computers and related systemsĀ 

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop systems, workstations, servers, and network issues in a heterogeneous environmentĀ 

• Perform desktop installation, basic cabling, network monitoring, and troubleshooting of the network and systems residing on the networkĀ 

• Perform account maintenance, data integrity, and file system security for the desktop environmentĀ 

• Assist in determining suitable software to meet user requirements. Recommend hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgradesĀ 

• Conduct training programs designed to educate the organization’s computer users about basic and specialized applicationsĀ 

• Communicate highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnelĀ 

• Assist with documenting and cataloging systems for historical and information assurance purposesĀ 

• Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive informationĀ 

• Handle off-hours duties and responsibilities, shared with other team membersĀ 

• Attend training as needed or assignedĀ 

• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned Ā 


REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED, Associate’s degree preferredĀ 

• One year of experience working with the Microsoft Windows 2008/2012 server product line, Cisco hardware and software, TCP/IP, VPN technologies, data backup, virus protection, and network system monitoringĀ 

• Good research skills and analytical problem-solving abilitiesĀ 

• Self-directed and self-motivatedĀ 

• Must be able to travel as neededĀ 

• Excellent oral and written communication skillsĀ 

• Solid project management and organizational skillsĀ 

• Proven judgment and decision-making abilitiesĀ 

• Ability to work independently and on a teamĀ 

• Proven ability to establish credibility and develop partnershipsĀ 

• Capacity for meeting deadlines while working under pressure

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.
