The Business Intelligence Analyst I develops and produces information to support the operational, clinical and financial effectiveness of the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center. The Analyst I will use all available resources such as the Electronic Health Record (GE Centricity and Epic), Data Analytics tools, claims data analysis tools, and various business analytics support systems to provide key performance data to the leadership team and other audiences, as defined. The analyst I will assist in documentation and process improvement including but not limited to Population Health Initiatives, UDS, Financial Analysis, Grants and process improvement projects. 

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: 

  • Collects data from multiple sources and uses technology to provide data analysis.
  • Builds reports and dashboards that meet all goals and objectives. 
  • Interprets data and associated reports in plain business language for executive staff. Interprets for clinical staff in a manner that has concrete relevance to their day-to-day functions.
  •  Consistently documents all software, code and work products related to data and analytics, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Identities data quality issues, designs solutions under clinical and administrative guidance and implements in a manner that is acceptable to all stakeholders.
  •  Documents key operational workflows, and works with team to maintain and manage documentation. 
  • Designs and maintains data reporting and delivering support for end-users with limited technical capabilities. 
  • Prepare documentation and other learning support material for data reporting end users. 
  • Provide support and guidance to end users under clinical and administrative guidance.
  • Formulates and applies mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation and other managerial functions. Responsible for regularly monitoring Ticket Management system to triage, manage or resolve tickets. 
  • Routinely utilizes the report request process to obtain, assign and process requests.
  • Keeps current and develops content expertise with all features of EHR applications. 
  • Performs other related duties as required.

    Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or Informatics; experience may be considered, in place of education. 
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in business analytics, clinical informatics and/or financial analysis. 
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and software. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite office products required. 
  • Electronic Health Record systems experience required. 
  • High level of proficiency using SQL and other report writing tools preferred.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, along with the ability to be self-directed.
