About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to join Cornell Scott Hill Health Center. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is responsible for supporting the overall fiscal management and financial operations of the organization. The Director of Finance will assist in overseeing accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting functions while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. This position is ideal for a collaborative financial leader with strong analytical skills, healthcare finance expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the CFO in overseeing financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting activities
  • Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, special analyses, and reports to support organizational decision-making
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of financial programs, systems, and internal controls
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local financial and reporting requirements
  • Oversees and manages Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Cash Management functions
  • Supports budget development and monitoring processes, including revenue and expense tracking
  • Collaborates with Human Resources on staff allocation and position control processes
  • Coordinates updates and enhancements to automated financial and management information systems
  • Provides financial analysis and consultative support to leadership for planning and strategic initiatives
  • Participates in the evaluation of contracting and revenue development opportunities aligned with organizational goals
  • Supports the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and operational procedures
  • Ensures program managers and department leaders receive accurate financial reports and guidance as needed
  • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates assigned staff, providing ongoing feedback and performance management
  • Facilitates and participates in cross-functional meetings and financial planning discussions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field required; Master’s Degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, or related healthcare field) strongly preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation highly desirable
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role; healthcare experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and healthcare financial regulations
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and automated accounting platforms
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports, projections, and recommendations
  • Experience working in large, complex healthcare organizations such as ambulatory care centers, health centers, or hospitals
  • Knowledge of contracting, reimbursement methodologies (including cost-based, capitation, and risk-based models), and financial planning
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and lead teams effectively
