About the Role

CREW is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead project execution as we scale-up our decarbonization technology. This role will ensure the proper installation and operation of CREW’s deployments. In this role, you will lead end-to-end project management to ensure budget and timelines are met; support implementation, commissioning, and operations at wastewater facilities; and manage wastewater partners, suppliers/vendors, and engineering services firms. This position is a full-time role, with travel expectations to wastewater partners across the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project management, including creating and maintaining timelines, budgets, and resource allocation across multiple operational sites.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and operation teams to ensure successful installation and performance of CREW’s technology.

  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including procurement and supply chain logistics for hardware components, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.

  • Prepare project deliverables including scope of work, request for proposal, cost estimates, schedules, presentations, and other related engineering project documentation.

  • Develop detailed work plans, including engineering specifications and execution planning.

  • Conduct and manage fieldwork associated with design and construction services which includes but is not limited to: construction inspection, basic process piping installation, training, commissioning, startup.

  • Servicing of deployments which includes but is not limited to: follow-up support with on-site operators, coordination with equipment vendors or suppliers.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, or mechanical engineering (or similar field).

  • 4-8 years of experience in civil engineering, construction management, mechanical engineering or technical project management.

  • Strong writing, project management, and communication skills.

  • Hands-on and detail oriented approach when delivering projects.

  • Financial acumen, including budget building, and cost control.

  • Experience sourcing and overseeing subcontractors and ensuring they deliver on project requirements.

  • Startup mindset where adaptability, creativity, agility, and execution are keys to success.

  • Able to travel 30-60%.

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and comfortable using power and hand tools..

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.

  • You practice extreme ownership (no task is too small).

  • You love being in the trenches with your team and working with high empathy.

  • You have a growth mindset.

Bonus qualifications

  • Experience with design, procurement, and construction of materials handling and dosing systems.

  • Proficiency in CAD software for engineering or product design (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Fusion, etc).

  • Understanding of water and wastewater treatment systems.

  • Experience with sensor, monitoring systems and automation controls.

  • Proficient in standard project management software (ex: Asana, Ganttpro, Smartsheets, Monday or similar)

Compensation

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of the total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity through the form of option grants, flexible paid time off, 401(k) plan, well equipped office environment, and health benefits offerings.

The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000–$180,000. This range represents the company’s estimate for this position at the time of posting however actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, role scope, and business needs.
