ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in access solutions, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in New Haven, CT. This role is responsible for core day-to-day accounting activities, accurate and timely month-end close support, and financial reporting processes that help ensure the integrity of our results.  

The Senior Accountant will work closely with business partners and finance leaders to support external audit requests, intergroup billing, intergroup loan activity, fixed asset accounting, lease reporting, and consolidation activities. The role will also work heavily in OneStream and requires a strong accounting foundation, sound judgment, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a collaborative environment.  

This position sits onsite in New Haven, CT.  

What you will be doing 

  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, and maintaining accurate financial records.  
  • Support the month-end close process by preparing, posting, analyzing, and reviewing entries and reconciliations within established deadlines.  
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts, identify variances, and follow through on resolution of reconciling items.  
  • Support external audit requirements by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring supporting schedules are complete and accurate.  
  • Prepare and manage intergroup billing activity, including coordination with internal business partners and review of related accounting entries.  
  • Manage intergroup loan accounting and reporting, including tracking balances, preparing supporting schedules, and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment.  
  • Manage fixed asset accounting activities, including additions, disposals, depreciation review, reconciliations, and related reporting.  
  • Prepare lease accounting and reporting schedules and support proper accounting treatment for lease activity.  
  • Work heavily within OneStream to support consolidation, reporting, account analysis, and close-related activities.  
  • Partner with finance, operations, and shared services teams to research issues, explain balances, and provide timely responses to ad hoc requests.  
  • Assess and recommend improvements to accounting processes, controls, and reporting routines.  
  • Contribute to special projects as needed, bringing a practical accounting perspective and a continuous-improvement mindset.  

What we are looking for 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.  
  • CPA certification strongly preferred. 
  • Strong foundation in accounting principles, including accruals, reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany activity.  
  • Professional accounting experience supporting month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit requests.  
  • Experience with ERP and consolidation/reporting systems such as JDE, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, OneStream, Hyperion, Power BI, or Business Objects. 
  • Strong technical acumen using Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and analysis of large data sets.  
  • Ability to retrieve, validate, and analyze information across multiple systems.  
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business partners and cross-functional teams.  
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively in a team environment.  
  • Limited domestic travel may be required, up to 5%.  

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with OneStream consolidation, reporting, and account analysis processes.  
  • Experience with JD Edwards, Oracle SmartView/Hyperion, Power BI, Business Objects, or similar finance systems.  
  • Exposure to a multi-divisional, manufacturing, or shared-services accounting environment.  
  • Knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with GAAP.  
  • Ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical controls or reporting improvements.
