Job SummaryÂ
The Program Driver II plays a key role in supporting transportation operations across multiple programs, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient delivery of food and materials throughout the community. This role requires flexibility, strong driving skills, and the ability to operate a variety of vehicles including box trucks and program buses.
The ideal candidate is an experienced and dependable commercial driver who is adaptable, safety-focused, and comfortable working across multiple programs and environments. They bring strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a commitment to community service. This position supports both transportation and on-site program operations, helping ensure smooth, reliable service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Â
A. Transportation Operations & Multi-Program Support
- Operate commercial vehicles safely across multiple programs, including box trucks and buses.Â
- Ensure accurate, timely deliveries while complying with DOT regulations and organizational safety standards.Â
- Load, secure, transport, and unload food and materials while maintaining quality and safety.

B. Program Operations & Customer Support
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and restocking at program sites and distribution events.Â
- Provide excellent customer service to program participants, partners, and volunteers.Â
- Support warehouse operations including staging deliveries, inventory handling, and maintaining organization.
Â
Minimum Experience
- High school diploma or GED requiredÂ
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a commercial driverÂ
- Experience in logistics, delivery, or route-based operations preferredÂ
- Familiarity with multi-stop routes or nonprofit distribution environments a plusÂ
- Retail or customer service experience strongly preferredÂ
- Ability to pass pre-employment background screening

License and CertificatesÂ
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake EndorsementÂ
- Driving record that meets organizational and insurance requirementsÂ
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Certification

Working Conditions and EnvironmentÂ
This position is located in a dog-friendly office setting, warehouse and on public roads. The building is accessible and smoke free. The work schedule may change daily based on Twin Cities Mobile Market schedule and other TFG program distribution times. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds if needed.Â
Must have the ability to drive a bus or truck during all types of weather conditions and to park and back up to fit into parking spaces as needed. Must be able to frequently go up and down stairs. Must have ability to sit in a bus or truck for up to two hours at a time and utilize various office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, and cash register) on a continual basis.Â

The Food Group (TFG) is a local food access nonprofit. For 50 years we have worked to provide nutritious food to those who need it most in our community. We work at the intersection of food access, equity, and nutrition issues related to food and hunger in Minnesota. We work across the food system and our programs include hunger relief, affordable grocery, sustainable farming, and advocacy.
