OVERVIEW: Pratt Miller is looking for Quality Control Team Lead to oversee one of our Quality Labs in support of programs throughout the phases of our product development lifecycle from prototype through low-volume production operating in an ISO 9001 certified engineering and manufacturing environment. A successful Quality Control Team Lead will work with cross-functional project teams in understanding customer quality requirements and in developing and implementing quality plans with the Quality team to ensure these requirements are met or exceeded. In addition to the direct reporting Quality team, this position will interact with both supplier and customer engineering and manufacturing on quality planning, deliverables, and problem solving.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to all the following:
â–ª Lead development and standardization of dimensional inspection methods, inspection workflows, report formats, and data collection practices across Quality Lab activities
â–ª Develop, program, validate, and maintain Zeiss CNC CMM inspection programs using Calypso software
â–ª Develop, program, validate, and maintain Faro arm, laser scanning, probing, and/or PolyWorks inspection routines, including advanced alignments, workflows, reporting, and automation
â–ª Create and maintain standardized inspection templates, ballooned drawing formats, FAIR/inspection report templates, and inspection data packages
â–ª Establish best practices for measurement strategy selection based on drawing requirements, GD&T, datum structures, part geometry, tolerance requirements, manufacturing process, and inspection volume
â–ª Support inspection planning for complex components, assemblies, prototype builds, and low-rate production parts
â–ª Review engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and customer requirements to determine appropriate inspection methods and documentation needs
â–ª Perform advanced dimensional inspections using hand tools, CMM, Faro arm, laser scanner, surface plate equipment, and other inspection equipment
â–ª Reverse engineer components and support measurement activities where engineering documentation is incomplete or requires validation
â–ª Develop and maintain standard work instructions for recurring inspection activities, measurement setups, CMM programs, portable arm programs, and reporting processes
â–ª Identify opportunities to automate inspection reports, reduce manual data entry, improve consistency, and increase inspection throughput
â–ª Use scripting, macros, software tools, or other programming methods to improve inspection efficiency, reporting consistency, and quality data usability
â–ª Support Quality Technicians with inspection setup, program execution, measurement troubleshooting, and interpretation of GD&T requirements
â–ª Provide technical training and mentoring to Quality Technicians on inspection equipment, inspection software, programming practices, GD&T interpretation, and standardized workflows
â–ª Support creation, compilation, review, and maintenance of inspection records and required quality documentation
â–ª Assist with FAIR, PPAP, control plan, and customer deliverable documentation as needed
â–ª Support root cause analysis, corrective action, and failure analysis activities by providing accurate measurement data, inspection studies, and technical input
â–ª Interface with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and internal Quality team members to communicate inspection results, measurement concerns, and part quality issues
â–ª Support gage calibration activities, gage audits, and measurement system readiness to maintain ISO certification requirements
â–ª Participate in DFM/DFA reviews, PFMEA discussions, and gauge/fixture planning as the technical inspection representative when needed
â–ª Maintain inspection program revision control, documentation traceability, and preservation of records as they apply to specific serial numbers, lots, batches, and customer requirements
â–ª Assist the Quality Control Team Lead with quality data organization, inspection workload prioritization, and technical process improvements
â–ª Communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and written
â–ª Proficient with Windows-based computers and MS software such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
â–ª Able to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
â–ª Ability to adapt to and understand the significance of different customer requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
â–ª Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent required
â–ª Associate degree, technical certificate, or additional training in Quality, Manufacturing, Metrology, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred
â–ª 7+ years of work experience in manufacturing, quality, metrology, inspection, or related technical environment preferred
â–ª Strong experience with dimensional inspection of parts to engineering drawings and/or CAD models
â–ª Strong ability to read blueprints, interpret GD&T datum structures, alignments, tolerances, and inspection requirements
â–ª Extensive experience operating and programming Faro measurement arms, laser scanners, probing systems, CAM2, PolyWorks, or equivalent portable measurement equipment/software
â–ª Strong ability to develop, program, troubleshoot, and validate Zeiss CNC CMM programs using Calypso software
â–ª Experience creating ballooned drawings, inspection reports, FAIR documentation, and standardized inspection templates
â–ª Solid foundational knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and measurement equipment
â–ª Experience selecting appropriate measurement methods based on part tolerancing, geometry, manufacturing process, and production volume
â–ª Scripting, macro development, report automation, or inspection software customization experience preferred
â–ª Experience supporting root cause analysis, corrective action, and quality improvement activities preferred
â–ª Familiarity with CAD software to review models preferred
â–ª Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system requirements preferred

- Position requires occasional light to moderate physical activity
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday
- 45-hour standard work week
- Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines, sometimes working longer hours, Saturdays, and/or Sundays
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Combination of office and manufacturing areas
- Primarily in-person
- Periodic travel may be required
- Stress may occur periodically

Pay Range:
$92,600.00 - $154,400.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
